Mai Tai

Probably one of the most iconic cocktails, especially in the tiki world is the Mai Tai. Said to be invented by Donn Beach and stolen by Trader Vic, it remains a cocktail that can be found on nearly any cocktail menu, right up there with the Marini, Manhattan or Daiquiri.

I can’t tell you how many versions of this I’ve made, but I can tell you this one I really liked. But, the will be more.

MAI TAI #1

  • 1 ounce Coruba Dark Jamaican Rum
  • 1 ounce Cockspur Gold Rum
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce homemade orgeat
  • 1/2 ounce Climent Orange Shrub Liqueur
  • Mint Garnish

MAI TAI #2

  • 1 ounce Coruba Dark Jamaican Rum
  • 1 ounce El Dorado 8yr
  • 1/2 ounce Dry Curaçao
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce homemade orgeat
  • 1/2 ounce Demerara simple syrup
  • Mint Garnish

MAI TAI #3 (***Best Yet)

  • 1 ounce Coruba Dark Jamaican Rum
  • 1 ounce Plantation Fiji rum
  • 1/2 ounce Climent Orange Shrub
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce homemade orgeat
  • Mint Garnish
