while on Christmas holiday with partner Sam McCarthy in Khao Lak, Thailand.

December 26, 2004 was one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history.  A Tsunami is basically an underground earthquake which causes massive waves to rise to high levels and pummel the shore and beaches.  The Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004 killed an estimated 230,000 people. It originated in the middle of the Indian Ocean and reached all the way from the Africa to Thailand in South East Asia with waves reaching as high as 100 feet before crashing to the shore killing and drowning people within its reach.

While there is plenty of amateur video and cell phone footage you can find on YouTube, the one movie that really sums it up very well is called The Impossible, based on the true story of one family’s miraculous survival of the natural disaster.
